Caddie Program

The expectation for a top tier golf club is to have a vibrant caddie program for its members and guests. Joe Pica and the Pro Shop are up for the challenge. There are a number of obvious benefits to using caddies including speed of play and exercise but we have a chicken/egg condition that requires a slight push from us all. In order to have more quality caddies we need more consistent demand.

We all know that other top tier clubs require caddies be used weekends prior to 11 and holidays, etc. but we have no issue with being unique and not requiring that. But that and other factors inhibit our ability to attract additional talent as the caddies cannot get the rounds that they would have at other clubs.

Cutting to the chase, about 5% of all rounds at Shorehaven use caddies. We want to increase this by 20% in one year (to 6% of total rounds) by adding some helpful communications to our membership in the coming newsletters. An example of this would be: CALL JOE ahead of time when you have guests coming and would like to walk! Simple guidelines will help us improve our offering.

Joe is ready for this and has been tirelessly working to build a program. He is very active in the MGA Caddie network and you should remember from past newsletters that three young men from our golf operation have received in excess of $20,000 towards college tuition from the MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund.

Stay tuned for continued communications on the Caddie Program and see you on the first tee!
